The 3rd highest mountain, “The five treasures of great snows”, Mount Kanchenjunga is one of the coolest and challenging technical climb on a huge massif. The astonishing massif retains its pristine beauty, mystery, and charm. The Mount Kanchenjunga expedition is a stimulating lifetime journey above 8000 meters that one can ever forget.
Mount Kanchenjunga expedition at the elevation of 8586 meters/ 28,169 feet lies on the very remote border between Nepal and Sikkim. As the name suggests, the five treasures of great snows, Kanchenjunga comprises five summits that are Kanchenjunga main 8586 meters, Kanchenjunga West (Yalung Kang) 8505 meters, Kanchenjunga Central 8482 meters, Kanchenjunga South 8494 meters, and Kangbachen 7903 meters. Each of these treasure fountains repositories of God which are Gold, Silver, Gems, Grain, and Holy books. The first ascent to Mt. Kanchenjunga expedition was made by Joe Brown, George Band in 1995 May 25 and was followed by Norman Hardie and Tony Streather on May 26.
Mount Kanchenjunga expedition has two base camps. Kangchenjunga North Base Camp and South Base camp on Kangchenjunga Glacier and Yalung Glacier respectively. Suketar at the altitude of 2400 m, a closet town with an airport is a pathway to both camps. The normal route to the summit is the Southeast side of the mountain from Yalung Glacier. The base camp and other high camps of Mount Kanchenjunga Camp I, Camp II, Camp III, and Camp IV fall at the elevation of 5400 meters, 6200 meters, 6400 meters, 7100 meters, and 7550 meters respectively. As the expedition gets high elevation other gigantic mountains like Mt. Everest 8848 meters, Lhotse 8,516 meters, Makalu 8,485 meters, and others get visible. The trail to the Summit passes along the tropical jungles of rhododendrons and oak forests and alpine zones.
